6 Ways to Get Comfortable with Content Creation
Quality photo and video content is the name of the game in the success of any brand — it can showcase your products or services, your personality, and it’s an amazing way to connect with your target audience.
However, if you’re a stranger to being behind the lens, putting yourself out there and being vulnerable can seem daunting. Beyond that, you might be struggling to find time to fit it into your schedule on top of everything else.
2025 is the year to change that. Let’s take a dive into our top tips to get comfortable with content creation once and for all.
Content-batching is your best friend
To stay ahead and avoid burnout, we love to block out specific days to record content all at once, especially our Instagram series reels like "Back to Basics" and "Fantasy Sound Bites." Having designated content days not only helps with scheduling the rest of your workload, but it can significantly improve the quality of your content. Striving for off-the-cuff, behind-the-scenes footage is great, but it may not be realistic during stressful times, such as busy event season.
Don't feel like you have to hop on every trend
It can feel like there are new viral trends popping up left and right, and it can be hard to keep up. Our best advice is to pick the trends that align with your product, brand, and message. Every trend isn’t going to work with your brand (or do numbers on TikTok), and that's okay! Try to add your own twist to the trend to make it more authentic to you. It’s true that sound clips have a shelf life, but you shouldn’t have to force the connection.
You don't need anything fancy
Believe it or not, quality content isn’t all about the latest and greatest tech, so don't let that stop you from getting started! Fantasy Sound uses two free apps for editing and effects — CapCut and VideoLeap. As far as physical equipment goes, we only use a tripod, wireless microphones, and a ring light if better lighting is needed. Don’t feel like you need to break the bank!
Anything can be repurposed
Repurposing your content can trim a lot of time out of your schedule, and it eliminates the need for 24/7 original content on every platform. For example, a blog post can become an instructional Instagram Reel, a podcast clip can become a TikTok, and a behind-the-scenes video can become an Instagram Story. One idea can be utilized across multiple channels with minimal editing.
Play to your strengths
When brainstorming content ideas, remember to play to your strengths and expertise — don’t stray too far out of your wheelhouse. Look to someone on your team with a great on-camera presence and loads of industry knowledge, while another team member handles the creation logistics, scripting, and editing. If you know exactly which creative direction you’d like to go in but aren’t fully confident on-screen, it’s okay if you aren’t the star of the show (or vice versa)! Talk about what you know and love; the rest will work itself out.
Embrace the fun!
Whether we like it or not, social media is here to stay. Content creation doesn’t have to be something you dread. Include your team and remove the perfection aspect; filming tends to be easier behind the camera when there's no pressure for perfection. Opt for what makes you the most comfortable, whether that’s more educational content, viral meme moments, or a mix of the two.
Your content can serve a variety of purposes, and the great news is that you don’t have to be well-trained or write an entire script for it to be successful. Both long-form and short-form content have their place, and you may even unlock a new skill for your business. The more creative you are, the better!
