Folks, We Swear It's Not a Burn Book

WeddingIQ Blog - Folks, We Swear It's Not a Burn Book

We're really excited about the responses we've received to our "Super Secret, Super Anonymous" feedback form we started promoting yesterday. It seems like lots of wedding professionals are embracing the opportunity to share their thoughts on their fellow vendors and on bigger topics affecting our industry. Some reactions on social media, though, made us realize our intentions may not have been completely clear.

In case any questions remain...

The submissions are truly anonymous. We have literally no way of knowing who submitted a form. The form does not collect or transmit IP addresses or any other identifying information. Even if we could deduce a person or business referenced in a form (which would likely be because the submitter was someone who'd previously spoken with us about their issue), we wouldn't share that. Confidentiality is extremely important to both of us, and our readers' and colleagues' trust is paramount to our blog's success.

Our "call-outs" are not actually call-outs. In any instance that we've used that term to promote this project, it was a short-form way of describing our goal of shedding light on problematic practices in our industry. We're not naming anyone; we're not calling out people, we're calling out behaviors.

Our blog is not a burn book. We're not publishing the forms with the sole purpose of stirring the pot. We're using the forms to inspire blog posts that are relevant to our readers, because our readers have suggested the topics. In some cases, we may be crafting shorter "list" posts that bring to light multiple issues within a specific vendor category. In other cases, we'll be researching a bigger issue and attempting to apply some thoughtful analysis to something that affects us all.

Our purpose is positive, not negative. The easy, knee-jerk reaction to our form might be to think it's just a platform for gossip. That couldn't be further from the truth. Our goal is to inspire everyone in our industry to raise the bar - for professionalism, for communication, for ethics. In just 24 hours of our form being published, we've received dozens of responses that have brought to light issues we never knew existed (and some we did, but haven't yet explored on our blog). We're energized by the chance to share these issues with our readership, and make a difference within our industry.

So with that in mind, we hope you'll consider sharing your thoughts with us - you can click this link to access the form. We can't wait to hear from you and to deliver content you can't wait to read.
