A couple of months ago, I was contacted by the editor of Special Events, a national event-industry magazine, letting me know I’d been nominated for their “young special event professionals to watch” list. Of course I was super excited, though I have to admit a little self-doubt crept in — did I really qualify for such a list? (And am I really still considered “young?” All right!) So, with hope in check, I provided the requested information and waited.
Lo and behold, I made it! I can’t even say how excited I am to have been included. There are some phenomenal event professionals appearing alongside me, including several from right here in the Washington, D.C. market.
It’s exciting to be recognized for contributing something valuable to this industry, especially given that, in my DJ company, I’m not the one actually out there in the field, making people’s weddings awesome. To be recognized for having built a great business, and for my ambitions to help other businesses, means a lot. So, yeah, when I got the news that I was part of Special Events Magazine’s “30 Under 40,” I had a moment of this:
