All Settled In...and Thinking About Change

WeddingIQ Blog - All Settled in and Thinking About Change

Well, a week’s gone by and we’re nicely settled into our new office space.  I have to say, I’m loving it so far.  You know how they say that, even when you work from home, you should still set a schedule, get dressed, and do all you can to define your work as something separate from your home life?  Well this is like that, onlymagnified.  A lot.  It just feels different being in this space.  I feel more focused, more energetic, like there’s more time in the day.  I know some people are resistant to change, but I am all about it.

And change we did.  In addition to moving into the new office, we also parted ways unexpectedly with someone pretty key to our DJ company’s operations, but within a couple of weeks, brought on two smart, diligent assistants who will help me with everything from marketing to customer service to bookkeeping.  This will free up some of my time to concentrate on strategic development for MyDeejay,  but also on some other projects that are of interest: writing, speaking and small business consulting.

(On the consulting side, I’m absolutely thrilled to have been contacted by quite a number of wedding business owners over the past month or so, for advice and input on everything from marketing to dealing with problematic clients to copyright issues to website content.  This is extremely meaningful to me, as helping people is really what this blog is all about — and if it’s inspired some people to reach out for help or a second opinion, that rocks!  If you’re dealing with a business-related problem, and need an ear, I hope you’ll call or write.  Confidentiality is always promised.)

So yeah, change can be a good thing.  It shakes things up, forces you to re-evaluate what you’ve been doing and jump-start the next chapter of your business.  I’m really excited for what the future is going to bring — the possibilities really do seem infinite right now.  Thanks for reading, and for sharing my excitement.
